Just a couple thoughts on ideas and inspiration... Write it when you have it. Take a few minutes to make a couple notes on your inspiration and thoughts at least. A few times I've had ideas and didn't write them down, figured I'd do it later. Bad move , a couple times it was completely or mostly gone. I think it is a good idea now to write it down ASAP even if it is a small idea and your not sure it will make anything. You never know where it will lead when you look at it later. Maybe you'll end up working it into another story or combining some of them into one. I keep an "IDEAS" file in word and a couple notebooks for when the computer is not on. And I never go anywhere without a notebook. I keep one in my car and a few sheets of note paper in my purse. Just somethings I wanted to share that help me as people are often talking about inspiration and idea problems.

I do that, write when I have the ideas instead of procrastinating with it. However, I also find that its a good idea to keep a dream journal. My boyfriend hates it but because of the type of sleeper I am, I wake about 3 times a night. And when I wake up I put the light on and quickly jot down what I've dreamt about. Half the time, when I get up in the morning and re-read what I've written, I can't even remember the dream. But the majority of my stories come from that.

I agree with both of you. Dreams are an amazing source of fictional inspiration. Also if I don't write down even a few words of an idea, tomorrow it's gone! *nods*

I have done a dream journal on and off in the past. It is an intresting thing to do but I find it very time consuming (my hand writting is slow). Did write one down a few weeks ago because I really liked it. Hubby was anoyed that I stayed in the bedroom writting for half an hour after I woke up. Anyone have any type of short hand they use? I sometimes think that would be helpful.
